My wife and I were married at a justice of the peace over 1,000 miles from our nearest family member. neither one of us regrets that decision, but we swore even before we tied the knot that we would hold a reaffirmation ceremony within a few years and invite the whole family so that they could be a part of the process.
Of course, both my wife and I already have Wedding Rings, but I think that it might be appropriate in this case to spring for a new set of Wedding Bands, because the crowd is going to want to see them exchanged. I’m currently wearing a stainless steel band, and there is a valid reason for this. I’m hard on my rings. I never take it off unless I’m dealing with raw meat or poultry, so it takes a beating all the time. It’s just the way I am.
The other reason I’ve been hesitant is that neither my wife or I is into Diamond Rings. We’re both of the “give me some color or forget it” mindset. Oh, and we don’t like gold. It’s silver, steel or titanium for me, thanks. I work on cars for fun, so I need something that’s going to take a near miss from a water-pump pulley adn still look like it just came from the jewelers.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll get back to planning this perfect wedding celebration for a bit before I go change out my power steering pump. Ciao!
