At least one friend of mine is getting married this fall. There are sure to be one or two more before the year is over and honestly, I think that winter weddings are far more interesting than June weddings, not to mention a whole heck of a lot more June-bug free.
In the winter you can get away with a snow and ice theme, something that would be hard to pull off during the summer months. (Though in some parts of the U.S. it really doesn’t matter, warm is warm, and no-snow is no-snow, but hey, if you’ve got it, use it!) What could be more amazing than walking into a hall decked out in white with sparkling crystals and ice sculptures everywhere? Instead of flowers you could decorate with birch branches and set the tables with white linens and 100% crystal dinnerware so that the entire place looks like an ice palace.
Of course all that sparkle wouldn’t be complete without a few Diamonds, preferably on the lovely bride. And wouldn’t she be radiant in pure white, with pearls and silver lace? I think so, but hey, that’s just one of my dream weddings. (Others involve kilts, some involve shotguns… You’d have to know my family.)
Of course if you’re not planning a winter weeding, the season is perfect for handing out Engagement Rings or any other kind of Jewelry you can imagine. (C’Mon! Pop the question on Christmas Eve! It’s perfect timing! It worked for me, so I might be a little biased.)
Here’s wishing a happy and sparkling Holiday season to all, from my hearth to yours.
