It’s so frustrting sometimes

By Jerry • Apr 23rd, 2008 • Category: Featured, General

Over the next few days you may see that the look and/or feel of the site jumps around between different themes.  The reason for this is that I am still not entirely satisfied with the way that the theme I am currently using displays the articles posted here.

I think my ADHD plays a part in this, but I just can’t seem to find a site them for ADHDFamilies that I can fall in love with.  Sure, there are a lot of good magazine style themes out there, but nothing on the market right now suits all the needs or wants…

Was that all it was?

By Jerry • Feb 11th, 2008 • Category: General

Well folks, after one full month of trying to figure out why I was failing miserably at keeping up with anything around here, I finally stumbled on the reason, and I must say I’m completely embarrassed at my own foolishness.

What was the reason, you ask?  I’m going to be writing about that at length later in the day.  For now, suffice it to say that once again, I’ve got the music in my soul!

Where’d he go?

By Jerry • Nov 26th, 2007 • Category: General, Site News

I bet it looked for a moment like I was one of the great disappearing ADHD bloggers.

Well, I’m not.

Sorry for the lapse, but I’ve been in a head cold induced stupor for the past-week-and-a-half.  It’s rare that I’m sick enough to avoid the computer, let alone blogging, but to be honest, it just felt better to lie on the sofa and stare at the television.  When I did blog, it was to update my food blog, which is my primary source of revenue.  Even my wiriting and personal blogs have been neglected.

Kinda sad, really.

Ah well.  I…

Where have they gone?

By Jerry • Nov 16th, 2007 • Category: General

Where have all the ADHD bloggers gone?  Oh, I find links to ADHD blogs in directories and in blog searches, but when I go to visit these blogs and see what other people are saying I more frequently than not am greeted with one of two things:

  1. Abandoned Blogs. A blog that has more cobwebs and dust bunnies floating around in it than content.
  2. Page not Found. It’s just gone.  kaput.  No More.

In the first case it makes me wonder whether or not the bloggers were ADHD themselves and have simply forgotten about the blog, or lost interest and moved on…

Blended Families

By Jerry • Nov 14th, 2007 • Category: General

Families that include children with ADHD are often blended families.  While divorce or relationship issues are not a cause of ADHD, ADHD can at times be the cause of divorce or relationship issues, whether in adult ADHD or with an ADHD child and the added stresses on a relationship can cause a breakup, which hopefully leads to a more stable second relationship. No matter hat the reason, blended families present a series of challenges that are all their own.

Having a little insight into the blended family from someone who is right in the middle of “the blender” can be…

Just for fun, ADHD T’s

By Jerry • Nov 12th, 2007 • Category: General

I don't have ADD / ADHD Long Sleeve T-ShirtJust because you have ADHD doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have a sense of humor about it!

This long sleeved T is on my list of shirts to get, along with several others.  Most have slogans on them that I consider rather funny, and nobody can tell me I’m out of line, because I have ADHD!  these T’s and Sweatshirts make great conversation starters as well.

go check them out if you have the time…  I’ll be adding a dedicated page of them in the near furture, along with a bunch of other ADHD related fun stuff.

Enjoy your life…  Have fun…

Disability-Based Harrassment

By Jerry • Oct 5th, 2007 • Category: Articles, General

OCR and OSERS recently conducted a joint focus group where we heard about the often devastating effects on students of disability harassment that ranged from abusive jokes, crude name-calling, threats and bullying, to sexual and physical assault by teachers and other students. We take these concerns very seriously. Disability harassment can have a profound effect on students … and seriously interfere with the ability of students to receive the education critical to their advancement Disability harassment under Section 504 and TItle II is intimidation or abusive behavior toward a student based on disability that creates a hostile environment by interfering with or…
